To enhance the experience of airsoft players, we set out to collaborate with the community to develop a custom suppressor. The project was implemented using the SLA 3D printing technology (Stereolithography), which allowed us to explore more complex geometries—something not achievable with traditional methods.
The challenge:
The noise produced by airsoft replicas can sometimes disrupt the game, and most suppressors available on the market fail to fully meet players’ requirements, especially when it comes to reducing noise without affecting the replica’s performance. Additionally, another challenge was thread compatibility, as many platforms use different types of threads. Our goal was to find an affordable solution that would be easy to use and customize for various replicas.
The solution:
SLA 3D printing enabled us to create a suppressor with an internal geometry optimized for noise reduction while maintaining compact dimensions. On some of the tested platforms, we achieved a noise reduction of -10dB at a distance of 2 meters.
To ensure compatibility with various models, we designed the suppressor to be customizable upon request by printing different thread types based on the replica model. Additionally, the dimensions of the suppressor can vary to fit user preferences.
Another advantage is that the suppressor also acts as an extension of the barrel, which can enhance maneuverability and accuracy.

Results:
- Noise reduction of -10dB at a distance of 2 meters on certain platforms.
- Customizable thread options to fit different airsoft replica models.
- Developed thanks to the players’ involvement and direct feedback.
- Adjustable dimensions to cater to each user’s needs.
- The suppressor is easy to mount and dismount without requiring complex modifications to the replica.
This project demonstrated the importance of close collaboration with the community and how practical customized solutions created through 3D printing can be. We focused on creating a simple and efficient product that best addresses the needs of airsoft players.
